Fairy Meadows

Fairy Meadows is a stretch of alpine meadow in Diamer at approx. 3,300 m, facing Nanga Parbat (8,126 m).

The last part of the way is on foot. From Raikot Bridge on the Karakoram Highway, a local jeep takes approx. 1.5–2 hours up a mountain track to Tatto or Jhel, and from there the hike takes approx. 2.5–4 hours. Ponies are available at extra cost.

From the meadows, a day hike leads to Beyal Camp and the Nanga Parbat viewpoint, approx. 3–4 hours each way. At night there is almost no light pollution.

The meadows are visited from mid-June to September, with May and October possible. Grand Karakoram (9 days) gets there in two days: up the Kaghan Valley to Naran (6–7 hours), then over Babusar Pass (4,173 m) to Raikot Bridge, the jeep track and the hike. Babusar is open roughly late June to October, depending on snowfall. The tour spends two nights at Fairy Meadows, then hikes down and continues up the Karakoram Highway to Hunza and Skardu.
